MIAMI, United States. — Cuban exiles will demand that the United States authorities investigate the meetings of North American officials with Lianys Torres Rivera, ambassador of the Castro regime in Washington.

Orlando Gutiérrez-Boronat, coordinator of the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance (ARC), a coalition that brings together various opposition organizations inside and outside the island, said Monday in Miami that the exile community “wants a formal investigation and suspension, if necessary, of the elected officials who met with the ambassador of a terrorist-sponsoring regime.”

In statements offered to CubaNetthe activist indicated that the meetings of island officials with US politicians seek to “create their bases of influence.”

“The communist regime of Cuba, wherever it goes, begins to spread its tentacles through the communities, through the States, violating the sovereignty of the country in which they are to spread its poison,” added Gutiérrez-Boronat.

The group of Cubans who rebuked the Castro official in a restaurant in the city of Tampa was led by Roberto Pizano, a former political prisoner who served 19 years in prison in Cuba.

The exile said to CubaNet that he expects Washington “to take action because, otherwise, we are going to end badly.”

“These people cannot be allowed to be here undermining democracy and rights in this country,” he added.

On March 5, Lianys Torres Rivera met with local politicians in a restaurant in Tampa. Cuban exiles arrived at the place, who reproached the presence of the official in the place.

As a video filmed on the spot shows, several men were guarding the ambassador and prevented the exiles from reaching her.

“Ambassador, say something to the camera, please. Have a face, our families are suffering”, shouted one of the Cubans who were in the place.
