A Cicpc official was captured when he tried to flee after allegedly murdering his partner, according to police sources.
The fatal victim is identified as Andrea Ortiz Benítez, a native of Colombia and 29 years old. Early Sunday morning, the woman was inside a van parked on Cajigal street, Cagua (Aragua), together with her partner Lenny Gerardo Cabeza Velázquez (48), when a discussion broke out between them.
Apparently, the policeman shot the woman, killing her on the spot, and then fled. Within a few hours, the police forces captured the official and handed him over to the Public Ministry. They seized a Glock pistol, Model 19 involved in the criminal act, the source explained.
A report was posted on the Cicpc’s Instagram site describing the crime and stating that the scientific police will not allow impunity.
“We will not overlap behaviors that are outside the framework of the law, or violate the physical and emotional integrity of our citizens,” says the Cicpc.
