It was formed between Pineda and Carles during questions to the director of the AMP

Judith Pena | March 13, 2023

A tense moment was experienced this afternoon in the National Assembly during the appearance of the administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority, Noriel Araúz. Deputies Raúl Pineda and Luis Ernesto Carles had a heated verbal confrontation.

While Carles questioned the AMP administrator, Pineda demanded that attendance be counted to confirm that the regulatory quorum existed.

Pineda tried to take Carles’ microphone to prevent him from continuing with the questioning.

Later Pineda clarified on his Twitter account that his intervention was only to enforce the internal regulations of the Assembly and that it had nothing to do with the questionnaire that was given to Araúz.

«The Plenary of the National Assembly cannot meet without the regulatory quorum. It has nothing to do with the questionnaire that is being carried out, it is a matter of violation of the internal regulations, “he tweeted.

Carles did not remain silent either, as he wrote on his Twitter “It seems that he did not like that he questioned the Director of the AMP about the exclusive imposition of fuel to a single company and other irregular actions that the Panama Maritime Chamber and other unions have questioned. ».
