Abinader receives the president of the World Bank in the Palace

The president of the world Bank (BM), David Malpasson his official visit to the country, met this Monday with the president Luis Abinader in the Green Room of the National Palace, reported the Presidency.

This is the first time that a president of the world Bank visit the Dominican Republic.

With this visit, the world Bank redoubles its efforts and expands its support portfolio for the country on issues of vital importance such as water, health, waste management, territorial ordering and the modernization of public administration.

In the productive meeting, the vice president Raquel Peña; the Ministers of Economy, Pavel Isa Contreras; from the José Vicente Treasury; from the Presidency, Joel Santos; Administrative of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza; of Foreign Relations, Roberto Álvarez; Environment and Natural Resources, Miguel Ceara Hatton; of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó.

Also, for the world Bank, the vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean, Carlos Felipe Jaramillo; the director for Central America and the Dominican Republic, Michel Kerf; the Country Manager, Ronke Ogunsulire; the executive director for the Dominican Republic, Erivaldo Gomes; the resident representative of world Bank in the country, Alexandra Valerio and the resident representative of the International Finance Corporation, Carolina Cárdenas.

In 2022, the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached a notable annual growth of 4.9%, higher than the Latin American average.

The Dominican Republic has overcome the post-COVID-19 challenges and has also proven to be an economy that is preparing itself in resilience to climate change with more equity and in the face of international shocks.

The president of the world BankMalpass, on his official tour, also visited Panama.
