After 10 years of the election of the Pope Francisco as High Pontiff, Monsignor Silvio Baezauxiliary bishop of Managua joined the congratulations of other priests for the highest hierarch of the Catholic Church.
“Congratulations Pope Francis on the 10th anniversary of the beginning of your ministry as Successor of Peter!”, the prelate said this Monday, March 13, through his official Twitter account.

He also took the opportunity to thank Francisco for his closeness “with the people and the Church of Nicaragua,” as well as the unconditional support for the episcopal ministry that Báez has carried out throughout his life of religious service.
These displays of affection are added to others that the bishop recently made with the pope, whom he would have thanked for his support of the Nicaraguan people and Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, a prisoner of conscience in Nicaragua.
And it is that in a recent interview for the Argentine media Infobae, the highest representative of the Catholic Church called the Ortega regime a “rude dictatorship” and pointed out that the ruler of the country has an “imbalance”.
Father Edwing Román, ex-parish priest of the San Miguel Arcángel church in Masaya, also congratulated Pope Francis on his tenth anniversary in front of the Catholic Church.
«May the Lord guide you and sustain you with the grace of his Spirit. I hug you and pray for you,” said the exiled priest, originally from Niquinohomo, Masaya, exiled in the United States.

The admiration and support for the pope come after the government of dictator Daniel Ortega reported on Sunday, March 12, through the Nicaraguan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that it has considered breaking off diplomatic relations with the Vatican.
“He Government (…) specifies that a suspension of diplomatic relations has been proposed between the Vatican State and the Republic of Nicaragua”, indicates the press release from the Foreign Ministry.
The regime confirmed the imminent rupture after the Nicaraguan media revealed that the representative of the dictatorship before the Holy See communicated the decision, orally, to the Vatican Secretariat of State. The digital outlet Confidencial revealed the information, also indicating that the regime gave the representative of the Nunciature a week to leave the country.
In the 10 years since his election, it is the first time that Pope Francis has made forceful statements directly against the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, which continues to repress and harass the Catholic Church in Nicaragua.
