The Moroccan international of PSG Achraf Hakimi, charged with rape in France, he was summoned this Monday by the North African team for the friendlies against Brazil and Peru.
“He is serene and that is the most important thing. We are with him, he is presumed innocent until proven otherwise, we and all Moroccans are behind Achraf,” said Atlas Lions coach Walid Regragui after offering his list.
Morocco, a big surprise in the last World Cup, in which it finished fourth, will play on March 25 against Brazil in Tangier and three days later in Madrid against Peru.
“We are with him wholeheartedly and it will be good to come back to Morocco and feel the support,” Regragui insisted at a press conference in Rabat.
“He is someone strong on and off the pitch.. He needs to think about football and there will be people who take care of these things for him,” he continued, specifying that he had spoken to the footballer after his rape charge was announced on March 3.
The 24-year-old PSG player was indicted by an investigating judge and placed under judicial control.
A woman, also 24 years old, accuses him of having raped her at the end of February at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt, west of Paris.
Judicial control of the soccer player prevents him from contacting the young woman, the prosecutor’s office said. Instead he is authorized to leave French territory, so you can travel with your selection.
