Abinader delivers RD$32.9 million for the construction of a rice factory

President Luis Abinader delivered a check for more than RD$32.9 million to the Cooperativa de Servicios Múltiples Sectores Unidos (COOPSECU) for the reconstruction of the rice factory located in La Gina, Miches, which was affected by Hurricane Fiona.

The reconstruction of the factory, which will benefit 65 producers directly and another 260 indirectly, was promised by the director of the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), Hecmilio Galván, during a tour of the area months ago. .

The RD$32,914,756.80, were arranged by President Abinader to rebuild the Miches rice factory, through the FEDA. The check was delivered by President Abinader to Pascual de la Rosa, president of COOPSCU, who thanked the president and the director of FEDA for taking that organization into account.

In his speech, at the act of handing over the funds to COOPSECU, Galván informed that the areas of the factory that will be rehabilitated are drying, mill, warehouse and the reception area. He said that the rice factory that was destroyed by Hurricane Fiona will be modernized with the RD$32.9 million pesos that President Abinader donated to the directors of the cooperative.

Galván recalled that this is not the only government support for rice producers in the East, but also that President Abinader delivered a few months ago financing of 5 million pesos to the Federation of Rice Producers of the East to transform the energy matrix of his rice factory, from electricity to solar light, which will mean savings of more than 10 million pesos per year.

The FEDA director also indicated that President Abinader has been the head of state closest to the national rice sector, which has been affected by the increase in production costs due to the increase in fertilizer prices.
