In a surprise twist, Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh won the Oscar for her lead in Everything Everywhere All at Once. It had as competitors the Cuban Ana de Armas (Blonde), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) and Cate Blanchet (tar).
The Oscar for Best Leading Actor went to American-Canadian Brendan Fraser for his work in The Whaleprevailing over Austin Butler, a critical darling for his performance in the biopic Elvis.
In the category of best supporting actress, Jamie Lee Curtis prevailed over Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Hong Chau (The Whale), Kerry Condom (The Banshees of Inisherin/Banshees by Inisherin) and Stephanie Hsu (everything everywhere all at once).
Its male equivalent was obtained by Ke Huy Quan, also from Everything Everywhere all at oncethe Vietnamese-American known for his roles in two iconic films from the 1980s: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and the goonies (1985).
