What happened to Yosvani, the baseball boy of the “Little Champions”?

¿Qué pasó con Yosvani, el niño pelotero de los “Pequeños campeones”?

Mexico City, Mexico-. Yosvany (Humberto Miranda) did not want to be a baseball player, but at such insistence from his father he tried his luck and discovered that he had a lot of talent for the Cuban national sport. After that, the real adventure began for this boy and his friends, Bienvenido and Biyaya, trying to break through in baseball.

Directed by Willy Franco, the director of “The Little Runaways“, and produced in 1989, this audiovisual product was a total success from its premiere. In fact, thanks to its multiple repetitions, several Cuban generations treasure the dramatization as one of his childhood memories.

Yosvany, with the number 53 on his shirt, was the most visible face of these adventures that feed their plot with entanglements and bad behavior by managers. Although in the end, the best of each provincial roster form the Cuba team that plays against an invited team from the United States.

What happened to Humberto?

After playing Yosvany in the “Little Champions”, Humberto was called to join the cast of “Black and white, no”. It was the Cuba of the 90s and there was hardly any food. The actor told the media about the filming of this series Cubalite:

“I had to travel around 20 kilometers from my pre-university school to FOCSA, which was where we met for the filming. I got very skinny and drank a lot of water with sugar so as not to faint, although a couple of times I did “go off the air” in the middle of a parliament.”

Subsequently, the young man took the tests at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) but was not selected. Therefore, he ended up studying Economics, a profession that he has not exercised until today. Humberto has remained close to acting in different roles, just not in Cuba anymore.

In 2002 he went to Colombia, where his parents lived. There she taught acting classes at the academy, in the city of Cali.

After two years on Colombian soil, he moved to the United States and, after approximately six months of small jobs in soap operas, he got the opportunity to be part of “Caso Cerrado”, with Dr. Ana María Polo, who was starting at that time.
