Have you heard of “Earth Hour”? This initiative was born in Sydney in 2007 as a symbolic gesture to draw attention to the problem of climate change.
It consists of turning off the lights of buildings and monuments for one hour every last Saturday of March.
This is intended to remind us that nature is the life support system of the planet and that we must defend it now to safeguard the health of our planet and, in turn, our own health and well-being.
Since its first edition in 2007, the campaign has become one of the largest environmental movements in the world.
In 2022 the sixteenth edition took place and over the years it has become a global movement, of which thousands of cities in almost 200 countries are part. In past editions, more than 17,000 emblematic monuments and buildings were turned off.
This Saturday, March 25, you can also join Earth Time by turning off the lights between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
