Electricity is brought to the La Culebra de El Seibo community

He Ministry of Energy and Minesthrough the Rural and Suburban Electrification Directorate, inaugurated the network extension project The Viper in benefit of 25 families in the community of the same name, belonging to the San Francisco de Vicentillo Municipal District, in the province of El Seibo.

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte, upon inaugurating the project of the program “Bringing Light”highlighted the Government’s commitment to carry electric power to the most remote corners of the country.

“The electric power It has become a human right, and the government’s objective is to help respect that right and that every Dominican has access to light regardless of where they live, whether in the city or in remote places like this one where Today we meet,” he said.

The project consists of 4,500 meters of networks, 58 poles, three transformers and 14 lamps for public lighting installed at a cost of 5,204,619.14 pesos to serve 25 families that make up about 110 people.

Almonte reported that in addition to this project, they are working on others of the same magnitude in the Guayoco communities, in the Rancho Chiquito area and in El Corozal that will allow energy to be brought to some 90 families in the San Francisco de Vicentillo area.

“The resources were available, what matters is that these Dominicans have the same opportunities to study, set up any business and travel with higher levels of security through the streets,” said Minister Almonte.

At the end of the inauguration, Almonte swore in the members of the Surveillance Committee, made up of Rosuera Esperanza, Carlos Rafael Rijo, Eutimio Hubieres and Armando Canela. These will be responsible for ensuring the safety, conservation and proper functioning of the work.

The activities were attended by the director of Rural Electrification, Francisco Cornelio; the mayor of the municipal district of San Francisco de Vicentillo, José Ortega Gómez; the governor of El Seibo, Magalys Tabar de Goico; Yissel Zorrilla, representing the senator and representative of El Seibo, Santiago Zorrilla; Johnny Ortega Calderón, president of the PRM in the municipal district; Colonel Pacífico Santana Vizcaino, police commander; the local priest, Mario Martínez Guerrero; the president of the Neighborhood Council, Humberto Rijo, and residents of the community.
