After suspicions of corruption over arbitration by Barcelona seasons ago came to light in the last hours of Friday, its arch-rival, Real Madrid, urgently called a meeting of its board of directors for Sunday in order to discuss the question.
Last month, the chain SER Catalunya denounced that Barça had paid 1.6 million euros to the company of José María Enríquez Negreiraex Vice President of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) of Spain, between 2016 and 2018.
However, she was not the only one who exposed this situation.

The newspaper El País, for its part, stated that Negreira’s company -DASNIL 95 SL- he produced written reports and DVD evaluations of the referees before games. The Prosecutor’s office said prosecutors filed a complaint against the club and two of its former presidents.
Now, Merengue issued a statement in the run-up to the match against Espanyol to announce his intention to hold a board meeting to discuss the matter.

He himself expresses: “Given the seriousness of the accusations made by the Barcelona Prosecutor’s Office against FC Barcelona and two of its presidents due to well-founded suspicions of corruption and his relations with whoever was the vice president of the Technical Committee of RefereesJosé María Enríquez Negreira, the president has urgently summoned the Board of Directors, in order to decide theactions that Real Madrid deems appropriate in relation to this matter”.
For his part, Barcelona president Joan Laporta strongly denied the accusations last week, suggesting that the fact that the team was the leader of LaLiga had caused people to want to harm the club.
