Former Minister García joins the discontent of the PL after a change of cabinet: “It was decided to sacrifice a relationship with one of the most loyal parties”

The former Minister of Public Works Juan Carlos Garcia (PL) joined the discontent of the community in which he is a member, the Liberal Party (PL), after the change of cabinet -made by the President gabriel boric on Friday – that removed him from his post. In this regard, he stated that he “chose to sacrifice a relationship with one of the most loyal parties.”

Let us remember that García was the only minister the PL had. His removal caused discomfort in the party. In fact, the National Council of the community requested the resignation of its president, Patrick Morales, who finally resigned on Saturday. Subsequently, the interim helmsman of the PL, Juan Carlos Urzuaaccused “humiliation” and noted that the “reward for loyalty has been to be left out.”

Faced with the ministerial adjustment, the former head of Public Works pointed out to Third that “in these charges there is no treason, this is not personal. Yes, the President finally made the decision to sacrifice the Liberal Party in the cabinet.”

In addition, he commented that its removal “was not within the original design.”

“The decision to change me arose at the last minute, if I’m not mistaken, at 12 or 13 in the afternoon. Not before. It corresponds to decisions that are exclusive to the President to generate balance between parties, gender, a series of variables that are important and that in this case he made the decision to deal with my departure”, he added.

“Sacrifice” to one of the “most loyal parties”

García reiterated that his removal is not a “betrayal”, but “it will force the restoration of trust with the party in a way that does not rest only on the personal relations of the President with the president of the Chamber, Vlado Mirosevicand with the former president of the party Patricio Morales, but more institutional relations”.

“As a party we are still pro-government, loyalty to the government is something that is not discussed, which is important when we are so many parties and so many diversities, that the perception that the wayward are rewarded and the loyal are punished is not established. “, he continued.

Along these lines, he pointed out that “it was decided to sacrifice a relationship with one of the most loyal parties, yes, in pursuit of greater political balances. And that loyalty, which continues to remain, will require building other dialogue relationships. I believe that the President trusts and rests on the loyalty of the Liberal Party, but that it will be important to take it up again now in a different way”.
