Sidor workers appeared before the ICC

They delivered a document to officials of the International Criminal Court (ICC)in which they explain that their salaries were suspended from February 15, 2021 and to date they have not received a response from the Sidor company regarding their employment status

The workers of the Steelworks of the Orinoco (Sidor) denounced before the International Criminal Court (ICC) that they were unfairly and illegitimately disincorporated by company directors, thus violating their constitutional and human rights.

Carlos Ramírez, a member of the Unity in Coincidence Movement, who worked as a prevention delegate in Palanquillas, indicated that they handed over a document to the ICC officials, in which it is explained that he and two other colleagues had their salaries suspended from the February 15, 2021 and to date they have not received a response from the Sidor company regarding their employment status.

The three workers had more than 30 years of service at Sidor and allegedly, according to their testimony, the reason for their dismissal was for raising their voices and demanding working conditions.

The complaint was presented to the ICC after exhausting all remedies. In the first place, “the pertinent complaints were made in the administrative unit, such as the Ombudsman’s Office, the Labor Inspectorate and the Attorney General of the Republic (but) there have been no responses to our complaints, remaining in an administrative silence that is considerably affecting the lives of the workers involved and harassed illegally and unjustly,” he said. Faith and joy.
