Evo arrives in the Yungas of La Paz despite being declared persona non grata and the installation of roadblocks against him

Last night the detractors of Evo Morales in the Yungas area of ​​La Paz had installed roadblocks to prevent the leader of the Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS) from reaching the community of Santa Rosa in the municipality of La Asunta to offer a political workshop . In addition, the cocaleros of that town declared Morales persona non grata. Despite these measures, the former president arrived at La Asunta this morning and was received by his followers.

Morales arrived in the community of Santa Rosa shortly before 08:00. He arrived in a vehicle and his followers were waiting for him in the town square. Then he entered a building and met with the leadership of the place. Then they went to a court with a shed, where the political workshop was held. At 11:45 a.m., the MAS leader began his speech. Morales referred to foreign policy and questioned the United States for trying to “take over” the natural resources of Latin America.

“Sovereignty is something so important, not only sovereignty in the political and cultural part, but also economic sovereignty. Youth, a purely political, cultural and social liberation, if it is not accompanied by economic sovereignty, it will not last. Our responsibility is how to establish sovereignty in science and technology, we must discuss that with the youth,” Morales stressed.

On Friday night, a group of people blocked the road to the place to prevent the arrival of Morales; However, according to local media, this morning the followers of the cocalero leader unblocked the roads and guaranteed the presence of the former president at the political workshop in the Santa Rosa community.

In addition, yesterday the Unique Special Federation of Peasant Workers of the municipality of La Asunta de los Yungas declared the former president persona non grata. The resolving vote established that “we declare persona non grata and enemy from the coca leaf producers of the regional La Asunta, to former president Evo Morales, for all the tragic events that we coca producers have experienced in the administration of the disastrous former president Evo Morales.”
