The legal defense of the governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, accompanied by assembly member Paola Aguirre, arrived this Friday to the Public Ministry of La Paz to present notarized books containing the signature of more than 70,000 citizens.

The reason? That said persons offered themselves voluntarily so that the Prosecutor’s Office I took the statement in the process against the governor of Santa Cruz and maintain that in 2019 an electoral fraud was registered and not a Coup d’état.

“The people of Santa Cruz have their reality of what they have experienced in 2019which was a fight of the entire population and where the will of the people was manifested in rejection of an evident fraud of the Movement Towards Socialism, so that Evo perpetuates himself in power,” said Christopher Balcazar, Camacho’s lawyer.

The lawyer maintained that the signature of the witnesses and statements clarify the reality of what happened in the country during the post-general election social conflicts, which led to the resignation of Morales from the presidency and his subsequent flight from the country.

After the violent arrest of Luis Fernando Camacho for the case called “Coup d’état I” on December 28, 2022, where the Prosecutor’s Office and the MAS accuse him of having coordinated with the Police and the Armed Forces to overthrow Evo Morales in 2019, the Santa Cruz Governorate together with the Creemos group launched a campaign to collect signatures.

For her part, Assemblywoman Paola Aguirre highlighted the civility of the more than 70,000 people who voluntarily went to the signing points to leave their signature and ensure that they were part of the 21 days.

“Let’s hope that the Public Ministry does not underestimate this spontaneous appearance of thousands of citizens who demand that this process be carried out with transparency, and that the Santa Cruz version of the facts is also heard,” he said.
