Fonacate representatives met today with members of the federal government to discuss the 2023 salary adjustment.

Last month, the government offered civil servants a readjustment of 7.9%. The categories rejected and presented a counterproposal of 13.5%.

After this Friday’s meeting, the president of Fonacate, Rudinei Marques, said that the government raised the percentage to 8.4% and, after pressure from civil servants, raised it to 9%. The 43% readjustment of the food allowance was maintained, from R$458 to R$658.

“The government will send us the formalization of this proposal on Monday so that we can take it to our bases, when they will approve or not the government’s proposal. We understand that we did our best, we stretched the rope to the limit. Now, the basis is the decision to approve or not,” said Marques. Fonacate is made up of 36 affiliates and represents over 200,000 public servants.

For Marques, the negotiation was reasonable and partially addresses the “inflationary erosion to which wages have been subjected” in recent years.

A Brazil Agency contacted the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services and is awaiting a response.
