Women's Day voucher arrived late and is not enough for a kilo of cheese

The Women’s Day Bonus is not the only special subsidy offered by Maduro for March 2023. The Patria System also reported the delivery of the Cultores Populares bonus for an amount of Bs 180, which is equivalent to $7.45. Only popular cultists registered by the Ministry of Culture receive it

This Friday, March 10, and two days late, the administration of Nicolás Maduro began the delivery of the Bono Mujer Venezuela through the Patria Platform. The amount is 96 bolivars and the delivery will take place between March 10 and 20.

The delivery, as reported on the Patria Channel, will be carried out directly and gradually by messages through the Patria System or by text messages through the number 3532, that informs when this subsidy arrives, accompanied by the following sentence: «In the hands of women we have assured the future, the victory and the happiness of the Homeland. My support and love for Venezuelan women.”

This subdisio is barely equivalent to 3.97 dollars, if it is calculated at the rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), which for this March 10 was 24.14 bolivars per dollar. The Bono Mujer Venezuela is not even enough for a kilo of hard cheese, which in municipal markets such as Quinta Crespo, west of Caracas, is offered for five dollars.

The Bono Mujer Venezuela is not the only special subsidy offered by Maduro for March 2023. The Patria System also reported the delivery of the Cultores Populares bonus for an amount of Bs 180, which is equivalent to $7.45. Only popular cultists registered by the Ministry of Culture receive it.

Last year, the administration of Nicolás Maduro granted the March Loyalty Bonus, Women’s Day and CLAP Anniversary, in March, in addition to monthly allowances such as Hogares de la Patria, Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, Humanized Childbirth, Breastfeeding, 100% Schooling and Family Economy.

Based on the bonuses made by the Executive, it is expected that the bonus for the anniversary of the Local Supply and Production Committees (CLAP) will also be delivered, in addition to the allocations for:

  • Hogares de la Patria: from Bs 57.60 to Bs 216
  • Dr. José Gregorio Hernández: Bs 108
  • Humanized Childbirth: Bs 144
  • Breastfeeding: Bs 144
  • 100% Schooling: Bs 72
  • Family Economy: Bs 72

The bonus adjustment was 9.1%, very close to the depreciation rate experienced by the bolivar against the dollar in February, which was 9.89%.

Despite the increase, these economic aids, whose highest amount is equivalent to $8.87 (February), are not enough to cover more than 2% of the cost of the basic food basket, located at $396, according to reports from independent economic firms.
