Santo Domingo Dominican Republic).- The judges of the Fourth Collegiate Court of the National District sentenced the security guard Ángel Emilio Santana Martínez to 30 years in prison, accused by the Public Ministry of causing the death last year of a member of the security of the automotive company Santo Domingo Motors, in the Ensanche Paraíso, of the National District.

The court, chaired by Judge Keila Pérez Santana, adopted the decision after accepting in all its parts the expert, documentary and testimonial evidence presented by the litigating prosecutors Cinthia Bonetti and Angie Castro, who demonstrated the guilt of the defendant for the crime placed at their disposal. charge to the detriment of his friend Ofelio Ernesto Ventura, an employee of the Security and Guarantee company (SEGASA).

The file implemented by the National District Prosecutor’s Office establishes that the crime was recorded in the early morning of July 16, 2022 at the facilities of the Santo Domingo Motors automobile company, in Ensanche Paraíso.

Investigating prosecutors from the Public Ministry determined that that day, Ángel Emilio Santana Martínez, who worked as a night watchman in a building under construction next to the Santo Domingo Motors automobile company, surprised his friend Ofelio Ernesto Ventura, a SEGASA employee, while he was sleeping, and gave him several blows to the head with a piece of block, causing instant death.

As soon as he committed the act, the assailant stripped the victim of her wallet and a 9-millimeter Caranday pistol that she used to carry out her work and then threw the piece of block outside the company’s facilities and fled the place, actions that They were recorded on video cameras that work in the place, which facilitated their identification and subsequent arrest.

After his arrest, upon being interrogated, Santana Martínez admitted the facts, explaining that the pistol stolen from the crime scene had been pawned for the sum of RD$10,000 (ten thousand pesos) to Mr. Pedro Luis Brito, who two days later, the On June 18, he voluntarily returned the weapon to the authorities through his wife Jhor Francis Rosado Núñez.

The forensic medical report concluded that the victim Ofelio Ernesto Ventura died from various traumas and contusions to the head, as well as blows and multiple fractures with rupture of holes in the frontal, occipital and left temporal region, the left shoulder and massive hemorrhage. in the left lung and exposure of the brain mass.

The Public Ministry established that the conduct of the guard Ángel Emilio Santana Martínez constitutes the criminal offense of “Murder”, provided for and sanctioned by articles 295, 296, 297, 298, 302, 379 and 382 of the Dominican Penal Code and article 67 of Law 631-16 that penalizes the illegal use of firearms.

The sentence imposed on Santana Martínez will be served at the Najayo Hombres Correction and Rehabilitation Center, in San Cristóbal, where he has been held since the moment the coercive measure was imposed on him in the case.
