Vasco defeated Bangu by 1-0, on Thursday night (9) at the São Januário stadium, and closed the first phase of the Carioca Championship in second place with 23 points. With that, Cruzmaltino will measure shapes with Flamengo (third place with 23 points) in the semifinals. The first match will be played from 21:10 (Brasília time) on Monday (13).

The other semifinal will feature Fluminense, champion of the Guanabara Cup with 25 points, and fourth-placed Volta Redonda, with 20 points. The opening chapter of this confrontation will be written from 6 pm on Sunday (12). Botafogo, with 19 points, ranked fifth and ended up disqualified.
The team from São Januário opened the scoring after just five minutes. Full-back Paulo Victor lifted the ball in the area with a kick from the side, Carlos Eduardo cut it partially and Gabriel Pec took the opportunity to finish with a header to the back of the goal.

A little before the break, in the 42nd minute, Vasco had the opportunity to increase its advantage. The referee awarded a penalty in favor of the home team. Alex Teixeira went to the penalty spot and saw goalkeeper Matheus Santillo defend.
