Miguel Mendoza returns to sports coverage a month after his exile

The released politician and sports journalist Miguel Mendoza made his appearance again before the cameras with his first coverage, this time in the field of Nicaraguan baseball. In turn, he recalled that a month ago he was still in “El Chipote” and today “I am trying to resume my life.”

“Wow, how the days go by! A month ago at this time, she was landing on the freedom flight after 597 days of hijacking. Today I am landing in Miami (United States) for my first sports coverage in my new reality as an exile from the dictatorship, trying to resume life, working as I have always done,” Mendoza said.

During the meeting, Mendoza was surrounded by Nicaraguans who immediately recognized him; “I felt so good with so many hugs, greetings, photos and demonstrations of affection from the Nicaraguans at the Port St. Lucie stadium who came to the Nicaragua-New York Mets game,” he said.

Recently, the political prisoner said in an interview with Article 66 that he never imagined that denouncing through his Twitter account the human rights violations committed by the Ortega regime against the population would be the “perfect” cause for the dictatorship to order his arrest.

He also indicated that although “I always believed that those prison doors were going to open for all of us, but I did not know that I was going to do that.” Mendoza stressed that he will continue to denounce the abuses of the Ortega dictatorship and demand the freedom of the more than 30 political prisoners who are still languishing in jail.

Through repressive laws, the Ortega justice sentenced the opponent to prison. He was charged with the crimes of spreading false news and undermining national integrity.
