Government of Nuevo León acquires debt for 4,680 million pesos

Monterrey, NL. The state government will strengthen its financial capability to solve the infrastructure projects announced for this year, such as Lines 4 and 6 of the Metrorrey Collective Transportation System and the La Gloria-Colombia highway with the contracting of a loan for 4,680 million pesos, authorized by the Congress of Nuevo León for the year 2023.

The Ministry of Finance and General Treasury of the State announced the decision of the competitive process to contract the financingin which the best proposals were those presented by the Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Públicos SNC (Banobras) and Banco Mercantil del Norte SA (Banorte).

Banobras was assigned to contract financing for 2,680 million pesos, while the contract with Banorte is for 2,000 million pesos. In both cases the term is 25 years.

The Secretary of Finance and General Treasurer of the state, Carlos Garza Ibarra, highlighted that the financing was contracted at excellent interest rates and without commissions. With Banobras it will be Equilibrium Interbank Interest Rate (TIIE) plus 0.47%, while with Banorte it will be TIIE plus 0.54 percent.

He explained that in compliance with the Financial Discipline Law for States and Municipalities, the financing contracted corresponds to 5% of the Free Disposal Income (ILD) of the government of Nuevo León forecast for this year.

The state keeps the “sustainable” rating of your debt, which it obtained from the second quarter of 2022, according to the Alert System, from the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP).

Carlos Garza Ibarra indicated that having this financing is extremely important to promote infrastructure projects, especially in this year in which intense industrial and economic activity is expected, in which the state government must be ready to take advantage of the opportunities that the arrival of important capitals from abroad will provide, in addition to providing the services that the population requires.
