Cases of dengue in the department of Santa Cruz They increased again in recent days, after a decrease in cases was registered. At the beginning of the epidemic there were 22 cases per day, while currently an average of 233 cases is reported.

For Carlos Hurtado, Epidemiology manager of the Departmental Health Service (Sedes), this increase is due to the latest rains recorded in the city and the lack of cleanliness in homes to avoid the mosquito proliferations.

“After two weeks of low case rates, in epidemiological week 10, which has not yet concludedthe numbers are rising againHurtado reported.

The official explained that so far this year, 9,805 cases of dengue have been confirmed; while the suspects reach 43,287. “And this week we will surely end up with more cases than the previous ones,” he said.

“This takes us away from the control zone despite all the efforts we are making. This endemic corridor shows us that we are still in a sudden epidemic of this situation, first with a decrease and then an increase in cases. With the data we have, it shows us that it is one of the years with a higher positivity rate, which indicates that we are still experiencing a sudden epidemic, ”said the epidemiological manager.

Hurtado reported that the rains will continue for the next 6 to 8 weeks, again estimating a significant rebound in dengue. “The population has a co-responsibility to assume”, Hurtado said.

Likewise, it was known that there are already 33 deaths due to this disease and that the most affected group are minors.
