Buenos Aires legislators will vote this Thursday on the project to eliminate the tax on credit cards sent to the local Parliament by the head of Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, with the aim of rolling back the validity of the rate that he created in 2021 after the redirection of funds of the co-participation adopted by the Nation.

As agreed by the heads of the legislative blocs, the file that was entered on Tuesday from the Executive will be part of the issues that will be addressed in the first regular session of the year, which is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.

The project will demand the support of at least 40 votes out of the 60 seats that make up the enclosure for the sanction, for which the official bloc of Together for Change (JxC) -which has 32 seats- will require the support of the remaining forces politicians who have representation.

From the Frente de Todos (FdT) they indicated to Télam that they will vote in the affirmative, but recalled that the measure implemented by the administration of Rodríguez Larreta “was not necessary” since it did not put the Budget of the City of Buenos Aires at risk.

In addition, they attributed the reversal of the collection of the tax rate to “the times of the electoral campaign” that has as one of its protagonists the mayor of Buenos Aires, who launched his candidacy for the Presidency.

Rodríguez Larreta announced the measure on Tuesday during a press conference in the Barracas neighborhood, where he maintained that the proposal contemplates “a tax cut that benefits the people.”

The 1.2% Stamp Tax on credit cards located in the Federal Capital began to apply in 2021 for consumption in the City of Buenos Aires, together with the increase in other rates, to “compensate” for the redirection of co-participation funds adopted by the national government, as explained by the Buenos Aires Executive.

At that time, the mayor brought the claim before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation to maintain the percentage that the district received and anticipated that, if he obtained a favorable ruling, he would reverse the measure, something he threatened to comply with last December. , when the highest court ordered the Nation to bring the mass of funds to 2.95%.

However, on that occasion the project did not prosper in the Buenos Aires Legislature since the JxC bloc tied the elimination of the tax to compliance by the Nation with the ruling, which blocked the vote in the venue.
