The Minister of Security of the Nation, Aníbal Fernández, will attend this Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the Chamber of Deputies to present before the Internal Security Commission on the policies that are being implemented to stop the wave of violence in Rosario, crossed by an increase in homicides and crimes linked to drug trafficking.
The presence of Fernández was agreed last Tuesday, in the framework of a special session that was held to discuss the pension moratorium, between the block of deputies of the Front of All (FdT) and Together for Change (JxC), after a request for interpellation presented by the radical legislator from Santa Fe Juan Martin.
Although the ruling party did not accept the request for interpellation of Fernández, it was agreed with the opposition that the minister attend to present before the Internal Security Commission, chaired by the pro-government deputy Ramiro Gutiérrez.
Fernández’s exhibition will be the day after his trip to Rosario in order to receive the troops that reinforce the Unified Command of the Federal Forces.
The Government decided to add 300 gendarmes and 100 Federal Police officers, who will progressively complete the sum of 1,400 new agentsthat they adhere to the 4000 that are in Rosario.
Fernández will present the policies that the Government has implemented to collaborate with the government authorities of Santa Fe and Rosario to fight against drug trafficking.
This Wednesday the plenary of the Justice and Criminal Legislation commissions issued an opinion on the project to strengthen the justice of Santa Fe, which aims to implement the accusatory system to be able to advance more quickly in drug trafficking cases.
The project designed by the deputy of the FdT Roberto Mirabella, and supported by the deputies from Santa Fe, seeks to create 27 federal prosecutor’s offices, 15 of them in Rosario; nine defense offices and six federal courts, as well as six positions of federal criminal judge with review functions, in order to be able to move more quickly with criminal cases, in a context of sharp increase in homicides and drug trafficking.
Meanwhile, the bicameral Commission for the Implementation of the Federal Criminal Procedure Code must also be formed, which has yet to appoint the senators that will integrate it, while the deputies have already been appointed.
One of the essential points of the project states that “those who are holders of the Federal Prosecutor’s Offices before the Courts, Chambers and oral tribunals of the jurisdiction of the Federal Court of Appeals of Rosario, may perform simultaneously before the judges with the function of guarantee, review, of trial and execution of the tax district corresponding to his seat”.
