Merchants and leaders of the Ciudad Nueva Zonal Market, in Tacna, denounced the theft of more than 150,000 soles from the administration office of said supply center, an event that would have occurred on Sunday.

In a meeting held on Tuesday afternoon, the person in charge of the treasury, Graciela Illachura, reported that on Monday morning when she went to the administration office, together with other managers, she found the drawers where she kept the money scrambled.
They hold managers accountable
Merchants interviewed by Correo this Wednesday confirmed that the complaint was filed at the Ciudad Nueva police station and that it had already been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department.

Some vendors blame the new managers who only joined two months ago. Others blame the outgoing leaders who have held office for four years and who did not call elections due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They say that no traces of violence were found at the door and that only the managers had the keys to the offices.
The merchants also indicated that the exact amount of the stolen is not known since the managers never gave an account of what was being saved or why it was not deposited in a bank account. They explained that the money saved was the product of charging street vendors and the use of public restrooms. This afternoon they went to the Prosecutor’s Office to push the complaint.
