As a way of lowering the prices of products in grocery stores, the “A comer, del campo al colmado” program will be implemented this month, with which grocery stores will make direct purchases from producers, which will allow a decrease of up to 15% in the prices of the goods.

The announcement was made yesterday Ricardo Rosariopresident of the United Retailers Grouptogether with representatives of associations and federations of retailers and wholesalers.

He explained that in a first stage the products that are going to be commercialized in the program are rice, oil, plantains, garlic, potatoes, onion, eggs, beans, sugar, chicken and milk.

“It is a program to favor consumers and grocery stores will have the chance to participate,” said Rosario.

The stalls selling the items will be located in the Merca Santo Domingo and in a first stage it is planned to start in Greater Santo Domingo with more than two thousand grocery stores.

Rosario took the opportunity to request industrialists to join the program, since it is also their duty to help lower the prices of products.
