Series shows where women victims of violence can get help in SP

This Wednesday (8th), on the social networks of the Municipal Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship (SMDHC) of São Paulo, a series of videos presenting the equipment to assist women began to be shown. The CMB is the largest and most important protection and prevention device for women victims of violence. Open 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays. To welcome women victims of violence and their children up to 18 years of age, CMB maintains temporary dormitories in its facilities, a structure for children and a specially trained professional to assist children for as long as necessary.

The place offers social, psychological and legal assistance, provided by a team made up especially of women, so that the person assisted feels safe when seeking help in such a tense and traumatic moment. The space also offers the services of the 1st Women’s Police Station of São Paulo, which was transferred there when the equipment was inaugurated, in November 2019, and a branch / court of the Court of Justice specializing in domestic and family violence, in addition to the Public Defender’s Office. public and public prosecutors.

The Metropolitan Civil Guard operates on site with a detachment from the Guardiã Maria da Penha group, to enforce the protective measures provided for by law, visit women who have obtained the benefit and check whether the removal of the aggressor is being obeyed as required by law.

“This is the Casa da Mulher Brasileira, which, in the sum of the efforts of the city of São Paulo, has been providing this service to women for three years in the city”, said the coordinator of Policies for Women at the secretariat and responsible for the administration and management of the Brazilian Women’s House, Ana Cristina de Souza.

Other equipment

The oldest equipment of the Secretariat of Human Rights is the Women’s Reference Center (CRM) Eliane de Grammont, in Vila Mariana, inaugurated on March 9, 1990. The Women’s Citizenship Center of Itaquera, in the east zone, completes ten years of existence, and will promote a conversation organized by the Coordination of Policies for Women, on the 23rd.

The Rosângela Nigro Temporary Shelter House (passage house), which temporarily receives women and children up to 18 years old, assisted 45 people in 2023 and 440 in 2022. women in the city. The Casa Abrigo Helenira Resende de Souza Nazareth, with 14 women and children assisted in 2023 and 135 women with their respective children in 2022, offers protection and comprehensive care for victims of family and gender violence.

The Municipal Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship is responsible for four Women’s Reference Centers, also to receive complaints from victims of violence, and five Women’s Citizenship Centers, which are differentiated equipment to provide outlets for women to gain autonomy financial support, through professional training workshops and other activities for this purpose.

Completing the SMDHC equipment network are three outposts, at the Luz and Santa Cecília Metro stations and at the Sacomã Bus Terminal, owned by SPTrans, in addition to a mobile unit, the Lilac Bus, which travels around different parts of the city for guidance on services offered to women by a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
