After former President Martín Torrijos Espino announced to the country his candidacy for the presidency of the Republic for the 2024 elections, this Wednesday, March 8, the president of the Panameñista party, José Isabel Blandón, said he was willing to discuss future alliances with Torrijos .
“We are willing to talk as we have already done with the Popular party and if Martín Torrijos is a candidate for the Popular party we will always talk with him with the understanding that this conversation has to be with total detachment,” he said, noting that he did not they will accept impositions and that the important thing is to sit down and talk.
He reiterated that they should sit as equals, without claiming that Torrijos is the one who leads the political movement, since this issue will be defined later, as he ensures that there are other candidates with the same aspirations to preside with the necessary preparation to do so.
«Not with the pretense that he is the one who directs or presides over this opposition alliance; There have been talks here for several months with Cambio Democrático, the País party, Alianza and the Popular Party, if he joins the talks, he is welcome”, he said.
