After commemorating last Sunday the 10th anniversary of the physical disappearance of Hugo Chávez, the figure of the Commander continues to generate news in international media.
The BBC in London published last weekend an extensive article on Chávez’s career as president, emphasizing, as has been customary in the big business media, the negative aspects of his personality and his government. Meanwhile, the CNN en Español chain dedicated a recount of 10 key moments in his life, in which he included the following phrase in the text: “for many his irreverence and style always allowed him to stand out for better or worse, but never to pass below the table”, which shows the news character that the Venezuelan leader always had.
For its part, the Spanish Radio Television portal chronicled his career as a military man and later his political performance, in addition to presenting a brief introduction on the commemorative acts for the tenth anniversary of his physical departure.
The German news agency Deutsche Welle dedicated an article, from its perspective as a capitalist media outlet, on the imprint of the Comandante, taking as a reference the analysis and testimonies of the professor at the Metropolitan University, Guillermo Tell Aveledo, of recognized right-wing orientation.
One of the foreign media that gave extensive coverage to the events was El Nuevo Herald, based in Florida, one of the US sites with the largest number of staunch opponents of the Bolivarian Revolution. The outlet in question published a detailed chronicle not only about political and cultural events, but also highlighted the presence in Venezuela of recognized leftist leaders.
