President Cortizo issues instructions so that the La Chorrera Fair continues without the sale of liquor

After the Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced this Saturday the closure of the International Fair of La Chorrera due to non-compliance with biosafety measures, the president of the Board of Trustees of the event, Carlos García, reported that it will continue until this Sunday 6 February, but without the sale of liquor.

“On instructions from President Laurentino “Nito” Cortizo, he has allowed us to continue the La Chorrera Fair under certain conditions. The conditions are that you have seen on the networks the debauchery that has occurred and all this debauchery is the product of the law, there will be zero liquor sales at the fair, all other activities are allowed, that is the news, the fair continues no liquor sales,” Garcia said.

The announcement was made in the midst of demonstrations by small merchants, artisans, and restaurants, who expressed their annoyance and disagreement with the decision given the economic losses that this would represent for them.

From the morning hours, Minsa authorities met with staff from the La Chorrera Fair Board, after videos circulated on social networks in which the agglomeration of a large number of people was observed during an event on Friday night .

The Minsa indicated that in this activity Decree 903 of last December was breached, which establishes the measures for the realization of fair events, in which dances, discos or cantaderas will not be allowed. The installation of inns for food sales was authorized and to enter the fair events it will be mandatory to present a QR code or vaccination cards with a complete scheme at the entrances.

For its part, the Mayor’s Office of La Chorrera reported that the prices for admission to the La Chorrera Fair have been adjusted, with which adults will pay B/. 1.25, retirees B/. 0.75 and children B/. 0.50.

It is worth mentioning that the entity had reported on Friday that it was carrying out an investigation for possible breach of capacity during an artistic presentation, then another event in which the measures on the perimeter of the show platform of the fair event were also breached.

Due to this situation, the Minsa indicated that the representatives of the La Chorrera Fair had been summoned next Monday, noting that the regional fine for non-compliance with biosafety measures ranges from B/.501.00 to B/.5 thousand.

The Board of Trustees of the La Chorrera Fair issued a statement through which it apologized, and assured that the perimeter of the platform has been reinforced with the installation of bicycle racks, perimeter fences and an increase in the number of security forces, to guarantee social distancing. .
