From El Morro de Valdez, Porlamar, Nueva Esparta state, the Vice President for Citizen Security and Peace, A/J Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, reported that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) in conjunction with the Citizen Security Bodies launched the Wara operation, with which they have managed to seize more than six tons of drugs from Colombia, brought by international drug trafficking organizations.
Ceballos Ichaso explained that the operation is carried out in six states of the country: Monagas, Nueva Esparta, Sucre, Falcón and Zulia.
“We have discovered an operation that procured all these psychotropic substances such as cocaine and marijuana from Colombia. We have technological evidence and forensic material that have allowed us to discover that criminal gangs were fully working on an air route directly from Colombia. We are carrying out a major operation to combat drug trafficking in coordination with other governments such as France, Colombia and Brazil,” said the Vice President of Citizen Security.
He explained that in Monagas, the FANB seized 2,800 kilos of narcotic substances, after dismantling an important operations center for illicit drug trafficking, made up of four clandestine camps.
In the place, 52 weapons of war used to commit crimes, explosive material, grenades, ammunition, seven global positioning equipment, cell phones with information that allowed identifying the relationship with Colombian drug trafficking organizations, eight satellite radios, two satellite phones, were seized. five boats and a semi-submersible for the transport of illicit substances by river to the sea.
Ceballos Ichaso highlighted that more than 900 men and women are deployed in the Wuara operation “in a permanent fight against drug trafficking and money laundering.”
It also indicated that jointly between Venezuela and the Republic of France, this operation in international waters managed to seize a boat, 1,753 kg of cocaine and 8 detainees.
“We have a great security and defense policy. We are contributing to prevent Venezuela from being used as a bridge for these Colombian criminal organizations for drug trafficking to other countries,” said Ceballos.
Finally, the sector vice president noted that Venezuela has to date a total of 8,126 kg of drugs seized only during the first two months of 2023.
