A magistrate representing the JNEdenounced, through a document dated March 4 addressed to the National Prosecutor’s Office, that the president of said institution Jorge Luis Salas Arenas he would have been the victim of a death threat, which, according to the letter, was carried out through social networks. In said letter, magistrate García Vásquez pointed out that the “Ultra Right Clandestino” account wrote a message to the JNE accompanied by “an image of a hand holding a bullet.” The threatening message came through the Twitter network tray of the institution chaired by Salas Arenas.
“Go away, Salas Arena… get away, corrupt… you have been warned”, was the message that accompanied the image that alerted the current president of the National Elections Board.

In the letter broadcast by Canal N, it is specified that said threat came from a Twitter user who called himself “Clandestine Ultra Rightist” identified by the name “@siniestro_8814”.
Faced with this situation, magistrate Eduardo García Vásquez requested, on behalf of the JNE, that “the corresponding actions” be carried out immediately.
According to García, the Peruvian State must guarantee the continuity of its work without being subject to threats, harassment or acts of violence in the exercise of its functions”, for which it considers that this intimidation “deserves urgent attention” by the Public Ministry.
