This was announced by the director of the aforementioned hospital, Javier Correa Tineo, who explained that the minor was born on January 10, after leaving the hospital with acceptable health, she returned when she was 15 days old with a worrying picture, to date She has already been hospitalized for eight days.

It is known that the minor’s family comes from the Yauli district, however, the names of the mother and the patient are in reserve.

After being discharged routinely, with her baby, the mother returned to the hospital because the minor did not want to breastfeed, when she was diagnosed with COVID-19, she tested positive. It was learned that the mother had mild symptoms of the disease, so she went unnoticed in her.

“It is the first case of a newborn (with COVID-19) in our hospital, the girl has had respiratory distress in her evolution, she is currently still oxygen-dependent, because she has a saturation of 82%, she has had an added infection, She has been covered with antibiotics and the treatment is being completed, but the minor will continue in the hospital until her saturation improves, “said Correa, who explained that the mother was vaccinated.

RECOMMENDATION FOR MOMS

Given this situation, it is imperative to know that the coronavirus is not spread through breast milk. “Breastfeeding does not produce contagion of COVID-19, contagion occurs through breathing. On the contrary, the mother protects the child with breastfeeding”, affirmed the doctor.
