VP confirms that Guaidó will be his candidate for primaries that cannot be killed “by finger”

The national political coordinator of Voluntad Popular (VP), Freddy Superlano, announced this Tuesday, February 7, that the leader Juan Guaidó will be the standard bearer of the orange awning for the primaries of an opposition sector, scheduled for October 22.

In a Press conference At the VP headquarters, Superlano indicated that the decision was made at a national congress of activists, where the party’s participation in the 2024 presidential elections was also approved, regardless of the conditions imposed by the National Electoral Council (CNE).

Guaidó, who served as president of the National Assembly and president of the interim government between 2019 and 2022, was not present at the event. He was in an activity organized in Macuto, Vargas state, with Voluntad Popular activists to organize in the upcoming elections.

Another issue that Freddy Superlano highlighted is that Voluntad Popular hopes that the primaries “will not be decided by hand”, given rumors of a search for consensus among other candidates to decide these elections as much as possible.

To date, seven parties and one independent candidate (Benjamín Rausseo) have confirmed their participation in the primary elections organized by the Unitary Platform, through its National Primary Commission. In addition to Guaidó, among the candidates are María Corina Machado (Vente Venezuela), Delsa Solórzano (Citizen Meeting), Henrique Capriles (First Justice), Andrés Velásquez (La Causa R), César Pérez Vivas (Concertación Ciudadana) and Carlos Prosperi (Action Democratic).

Of them, only Prosperi has formally presented its government plan as a presidential candidate.
