The Cicpc reported the capture of Sacharit Yeraldin Escalona Díaz (24), accused of murdering her two children by fire, an event that occurred in the family home located in the 1° de Mayo neighborhood, El Cementerio.
This fact dates from August 25 of last year, but it was this Tuesday when the scientific police released the results of the investigation.
The victims are: a 5-year-old girl with a motor disability and her one-year-old brother, who burned to death in the house. The Cicpc determined that it was a fire caused by the children’s mother who sprayed them with oil, set them on fire and fled.
The neighbors tried to put out the flames but it was too late. The woman was arrested in the Los Sin Techo neighborhood and handed over to the Public Ministry.
When the event occurred, in August 2022, crime journalists interviewed Jeira Díaz, the children’s grandmother, who reported that their mother went out to get water and at that moment the fire broke out.
