According to official data, from January to date, 471 cases have been registered in Cusco in the province of La Convención; of which, 136 cases correspond to Santa Ana, 132 to Pichari and Kimbiri registers 75 cases.
The executive director of Comprehensive Health Care, Pablo Grajeda, considered that community participation is essential along with the intervention of all government bodies to prevent and control dengue cases in the province of La Convención.
He explained that dengue, as a serious health problem, requires coordinated work in anti-vector campaigns, epidemiological surveillance for the early detection of outbreaks and the training of medical personnel to achieve a timely and accurate diagnosis that prevents deaths.
He said that recently a health team was in Pichari and now works in Santa Ana due to the increase in cases. “Dengue exists because there are more mosquitoes, it is a problem because people do not eliminate the breeders”, remarked.
He stressed that the task of the authorities includes reducing cases, strengthening epidemiological surveillance activities, training the population, as well as vector control brigades within the framework of the action plan implemented by the Regional Government through the Regional Health Management (Geresa) to control the dengue outbreak in La Convención.
He regretted that in recent years there has been a sustained outbreak of dengue cases “because the population was not summoned to actively participate in order to face the problem.” Grajeda Ancca, reiterated that, with the control actions of the technical teams, They hope to significantly reduce dengue cases in that area in the following weeks.
It should be noted that The Government declared a health emergency in different regions of the country affected by this disease in order to emphasize surveillance and control actions.
