Most of the prices of agricultural products remain stable in the New Market of agricultural villagesexcept the cubanela chiliwhich shows a variation in recent weeks.
For the last week of February, the cubanela chili it was sold at RD$22.00 per pound, while for the first week of March it was dispatched at RD$30.00.
According to vendors, there is no shortage of any agricultural product, but sales are still “a little weak.”
The plantain was sold yesterday between RD$14.00 and RD$18.00 per unit, depending on the class.
A 30-unit carton of eggs continues to cost RD$180.00 and imported chili peppers RD$60.00 a pound.
Chicken is sold for RD$78.00 and pork for RD$120.00.
According to the president of the Merchants Federation of the New Market, Miguel Minaya, the prices of most products have been stable for months.
“Here in the market all the products are entering. We are fully supplied and with affordable prices for production,” he said.
He pointed out that the stability of prices is due to the support that the field has received from the Government and indicated that the variation that has occurred is due to the production processes of the goods.
