“I just spoke by telephone with King Carlos III, of the United Kingdom. We spoke about the desire to deepen partnerships and discussions between our countries on the climate issue and protection of the environment”, said Lula in a post on Twitter. The British king is known for having, over the last few decades, acted in defense of environmental causes.

Charles, 74, automatically became king on September 8 last year, following the death of his mother, then Queen Elizabeth II, who ruled for 70 years in the longest reign on the British throne. In May of this year, the United Kingdom holds the official coronation ceremony of the new king. The Brazilian government did not say whether Lula will attend the event.
