Deputy Maite Orsini (RD) will hold a press conference this Monday for a “phone call” to Carabineros

This Monday, March 6, at 2:30 p.m., Deputy Maite Orsini (RD) will hold a press conference for the media, with the aim of addressing a controversial episode starring former soccer player Jorge “Mago” Valdivia.

It is worth mentioning that Deputy Orsini communicated with Carabineros General Karina Soza on January 26 to put her in contact with Valdivia, for an alleged illegal and arbitrary act against her in a police proceeding, where her rights would have been violated. The night before, police officers carried out an identity check on the former soccer player, who, not having their respective documents, raised tempers, so the officials decided to take him to the police station in handcuffs.

According to Orsini’s team, the deputy carried out the procedures without falling into any irregularity. In addition, the DR parliamentarian reported herself to the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the fact and rule out -or not- the existence of a case of corruption due to influence peddling.

The issue was addressed by the president of the Democratic Revolution, Senator Juan Ignacio Latorre, who stated that as a board they support deputy Maite Orsini in her self-complaint before the Public Ministry. “We are the first interested in clarifying this and verifying her innocence,” he said. And that, he said, “will be determined by the investigation that is underway at the Prosecutor’s Office.”

“The deputy has informed us that she is going to give a press point tomorrow, in the National Congress, which is her work space, to answer questions from the media,” said the RD helmsman, along with showing solidarity with the parliamentarian against “multiple attacks, sexist violence, digital bullying and psychological violence that has fallen on her”.

“It is her personal life and in that we, as a party, stand in solidarity with our partner on that more human level,” added Latorre.

Before the deputy Maite Orsini denounced herself for the “phone call”, the ministers Antonia Orellana for Women and Ana Lya Uriarte of the General Secretariat of the Presidency (Segpres) spoke out in support of the militant DR parliamentarian.

“As a ministry and I, personally, have defended the governor of the DC, Cristina Bravo; and the deputy Camila Flores, who is from the opposition and also suffered a wave of great aggression when she was hospitalized in the emergency room… With her we made the same call for attention: beware of the violence suffered by women in politics through social networks. If one gets into the comments there are threats of sexual assault, denigrating messages, “said Minister Orellana in conversation with TVN.

“There was no political committee to respond. What there was is another question that I think can only respond to a perception and statement that we have made is that this is a feminist government. I see no reason why a feminist government could not say that a woman has been bullied… There have been many men in politics with a private life that no one has entered, but it turns out that a young woman is exposed in a situation They attack her privately and through social networks,” said Minister Uriarte on Channel 13.
