The national leader of Primero Justicia Carlos Ocariz once again expressed the need to create a registry of Venezuelans abroad in order to guarantee that they can exercise the right to vote in the primary elections, in which the presidential candidate who will face the ruling party in the elections scheduled for 2024 will be chosen. This initiative is supported by Maria Corina Machadothe leader of Vente Venezuela.
«I want to ratify my proposal to create a registry of Venezuelans abroad. A few months ago we made a statement on the matter and publicly requested the Unitary Platform to carry out this census. There are more than five million compatriots who have the sacred right to vote, that voice has to be heard. I also want to thank María Corina Machado for supporting this initiative because we must all push for this to become a reality,” said Carlos Ocariz.
He said that there are international organizations that can carry out the registration quickly and safely. “The UN and even the OAS itself can participate in the development of a secure registry,” said Ocariz, who also says that the Primary Commission can request this registry “because it is vital that our people abroad can vote.”
«We have to do the impossible; they have a constitutional right to do so,” she emphasized.
The Primary Commission has already ruled on the matter and they also affirm that it is a priority; although they recognize the difficulty of carrying out these days of registration and updating of data abroad in coordination with the National Electoral Council (CNE).

The last time that “systematic processes” for the registration of Venezuelans abroad were known was before the 2012 presidential election, Súmate spokesmen say.
