Voters in Carapebus, Rio, choose new mayor on Sunday

Voters from six municipalities go to the polls this Sunday (5) to choose new mayors in supplementary elections. The elected representatives must remain in office until December 2024.Voters from 5 municipalities vote again for mayor this Sunday

This type of election occurs when more than half of the votes granted to the candidate for the Executive, in this case, the mayor, are annulled, with a rejected registration.

This time, the elections take place in Capão do Cipó, Miraguaí and Redentora, in Rio Grande do Sul; Iaciara, in Goiás; and Ipanguaçu, in Rio Grande do Norte. In two municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, Caseiros and São Francisco de Assis, voting was suspended by injunction (provisional decision) until appeals against the removal of mayors are judged by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

In supplementary elections, the polls are open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, always at the local polling time. As in any election organized by the Electoral Court, to vote, all you have to do is bring an official document with a photo.

Accepted, for example: e-Title, identity card, social identity, passport or other equivalent legal value – including professional category card recognized by law -, reservist certificate, work card or National Driver’s License.

Even those who registered biometrics need to take the document with a photo.
