The Dane presented this Saturday the results of the Consumer Price Index (CPI)which showed an annual variation of 13.28%, the highest figure since the beginning of 1999.

These results show that the behavior of inflation has not reached a ceiling and continues to rise, month by month, although with a more moderate growth. In January the figure was 13.25%.
The annual variation of inflation as of February 2023 is 5.27 percentage points higher than that reported in the same period of the previous year, when it was 8.01%.
For his part, the monthly variation of the Index was 1.66% in the second month of this year.
The monthly behavior of the total CPI in February 2023 (1.66%) was mainly explained by the monthly variation of the Food and non-alcoholic beverages and Education divisions.
The greatest variations occurred in the Education divisions (8.50%) and Furniture, articles for the home and for ordinary household maintenance (2.04%).
The annual behavior of the total CPI was mainly explained by the annual variation of the Food and non-alcoholic beverages and Lodging, water, electricity, gas and other fuels divisions.
The Food and non-alcoholic beverages division registered an annual variation of 24.14%, this being the highest annual variation. In February 2023, the highest price increases were registered in the subclasses arracacha, yams and other tubers (103.90%), onion (75.78%) and plantains (48.84%). The only price decrease was reported in the potato subclass (-1.69%).
