The Cuban Erislandy Álvarez achieved this Friday his second success in the professional boxing and maintained the winning trail of the Domadores de Cuba franchise.
Álvarez needed less than two minutes to defeat the Venezuelan Omar “Nicolino” Echenique, in a lightweight fight (up to 135 pounds) held in the city of Maracaibo.
“A barrage of blows, for which his opponent found no answer, defined the fight (TKO) at 1:21 minutes of the first of the eight acts to which the fight was agreed,” review the digital site Hit.
“Opportunities like these must be taken advantage of and he knew how to do it,” Gerardo Saldívar, president of the Golden Ring company, which manages boxers from the Cuban Federation in rented boxing, commented on this triumph.

In his professional debut, Álvarez had succeeded by divided vote on the Mexican Joel Segura in a billboard held in the city of Jalisco. So, the young fighter from the island was strongly supported by two of the three judges of the fight (58-56, 57-56 and 56-57).
With this new success, the Tamers of Cuba already have 18 victories and a single defeat in the rented field.
The next presentation of a Cuban will be this Sunday, when the double Olympic champion Roniel Iglesias clashes gloves with the host Mauricio Gutiérrez in the Mexican city of Tijuana, points out Hit.
This fight in the 147-pound (welterweight) category is scheduled for eight rounds and will be the third professional duel for Iglesias. In it, the Cuban boxer will present his undefeated record in these fights against a boxer with five wins by knockout, reports the sports publication.
The Domadores de Cuba franchise ventured into rented boxing for the first time in May 2022, after the Cuban Federation signed a representation contract with the Mexican promoter Golden Ring. Since then, with few exceptions, the island’s boxers have easily prevailed over their opponents, most of them without much endorsement as professionals.
