Santiago Rodríguez.-The National Police will be able to bring to justice, within the next few hours, the owner of a farm located in the Loma de Caimito community, in this province, where ten donkeys that were missing were allegedly poisoned and found dead.
This is Bolívar Echavarría Almonte, 60, against whom the Court of Permanent Attention of the judicial district of Santiago Rodríguez issued the arrest warrant number 1486-2023-TORD-00015.
Echavarría Almonte was arrested yesterday by preventive agents and criminal investigations (Dicrim) of the National Police, together with members of the Anti Rustler Unit, allegedly for violating several articles of Law 248-12, on Animal Protection.
The owner of the donkeys, Mr. Juan José Álvarez Peralta, had been looking for the missing animals for several days, which apparently crossed over to the farm where they were found dead.
Donkeys are an endangered animal and have long been a symbol of strength and hard work in the Dominican countryside.
