MIAMI, United States. — The Portuguese hotel chain Vila Galé confirmed that it will soon manage two facilities in Cuba as part of its “international growth process.”

In statements offered to the newspaper of travel and tourism ExpressGonçalo Rebelo de Almeida, executive president of Vila Galé, assured that one hotel would be located in Havana and the other in a tourist destination located on some keys.

“Soon we will confirm our trip to Cuba, where very soon we are going to open two hotel units,” the administrator announced; one in Havana and another in a Key”, said the businessman to that medium.

The news was released within the framework of the Lisbon Tourism Exchange BTL 2023, an event that will last until next Sunday and in which a delegation from the Cuban regime is involved.

Express points out that “the Caribbean nation attends with a representation of its Ministry of Tourism, travel agencies, hotel groups and service providers.”

Established in 1986, the Vila Galé hotel group is the second largest in Portugal and integrates the ranking of the 169 largest companies in the sector worldwide.

It has 39 luxury hotels in the main tourist destinations in Portugal and Brazil, totaling more than 8,400 rooms.

On its website, Vila Galé states that much of its success is due to the close connection between its employees, “who form a solid team with enormous passion for hospitality and tourism.”

The group has around 7,500 rooms, 15,000 beds and 3,000 employees.

During the last few months, the island’s regime has continued to promote tourism and hotel investment. However, its results place it far from reference destinations in the Caribbean region, such as Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

In this sense, the post-pandemic period has not been favorable for the destination Cubawhich between shortages, pandemic, building collapses, explosions, fires, blackouts and popular protests has been disappearing from important promotional lists where it was once taken into account.
