Why in some areas of the capital there is no water? CAASD responds

¿Por qué en algunas zonas de la capital no hay agua? La CAASD responde

The forecasts given by the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) regarding the drought are not encouraging. “Because what they tell us is that throughout the country, in March, not a drop of water will fall.”

This is how Felipe “Fellito” Suberví, director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD), on the reasons why in some sectors of the capital the water service does not arrive.

“It is not that water is not carried in those sectors, that it is not arriving with the same frequency. What happens is that if it is coming three times a week, now it is coming once a week,” said Fellito, who said that since the CAASD there has been an approach with residents of the affected places.

Fellito justified the reduction in the frequency of the service, because the rivers do not have the same flow, and this has led to the shutdown of several pumping systems “because there is nowhere to suck.”

The director of the CAASD indicated that the situation is not new. In this sense, he said that the entity is preparing to alleviate the crisis with tanker trucks.

In addition, the official called on the population to ration the precious liquid.

In recent days, the decrease in water service has been reported in various sectors of the National District.
