Four irregulars killed in Mérida

Four members of an irregular group were killed after confronting the military in the Chicorial Las Lomas sector, Sucre municipality (Lagunillas) Mérida state, according to military sources.

In the confrontation, the four individuals identified as Wilson André González González, José Gregorio Carrillo Méndez, Julio Antonio Paz Paz and a fourth yet to be identified died, according to the report of the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas) to which we had access.

All those killed are members of Los Tucaní, classified as a Structured Group of Organized Crime.

At the site, the military seized an AR-15 Carbine firearm, caliber 7.62×39 mm, two AR-15 chargers, thirty 7.62×39 mm caliber cartridges, a .30-30 caliber semiautomatic rifle, Demarlin-firearms brand, model 336CS, twenty-eight .30-30 caliber cartridges, one 9 mm pistol, Luger brand, model M02-AR, two 9 mm pistols (Beretta 92FS and Tanfoglio Forse 99), three pistol magazines, three 9 cartridges mm, a binocular, three telephone sets, four radio transmitters, four camouflaged tents, two tactical vests, three tactical flannels, four green scarves, two jungle hats, one campaign cap, two canvas campaign kits and two motorcycles.

On February 26, the military carried out a procedure against the aforementioned irregular group executed in the Agua Colorada sector, Caracciolo Parra Olmedo municipality (Tucaní), Mérida state.

On that occasion, they arrested four individuals from whom they seized seven Colombian passports, two motorcycles, three firearms and 24 cartridges, among others.

Tancol in Zulia

Meanwhile, at the Citizen Service Point located in Nueva Lucha, Mara municipality, Zulia, the military detained Simón Enrique Ayala, allegedly linked to the so-called Tancol groups, whose acronym translates to “Terrorists, Armed, Colombian Drug Traffickers.”

A cell phone was seized from the subject in which images and a voice note were found that linked him to the aforementioned irregular groups, the report says.

The man was traveling in a public transport vehicle, coming from Colombia, bound for Maracaibo, Zulia state.
