Moquegua: They warn of damage and collapse of the reservoir cleaning channel for Lomas de Ilo

The Comptroller General of the Republic warned that the concrete channel that was built for the cleaning and discharge of solid sediments and excesses of reservoir No. 01 of the Lomas de Ilo agricultural project, presents damage and has collapsed.

According to Report No. 01-2023-OCI/0805/OCI, whose evaluation period was carried out from February 8 to 15, 2023, the damages occurred because technical soil studies had not been carried out on the land where it was built. the evacuation channel.

Auditors warned anomalies

These anomalies were noticed by a team of auditors that was established in the project area and verified that the sector where the aforementioned cleaning drain is located is natural soil, so it was necessary for the institution, before its construction, to carry out soil mechanics to evaluate the foundation ground of the infrastructure.

As the studies were not carried out and after water from the cleaning of the reservoir flowed, it caused undermining of the land in a width of 7 meters, collapsing a section of the stone and concrete masonry channel slabs. In addition, the structure of the evacuation drain is exposed with the risk of its total loss or deterioration.
