The board of the Venezuelan Popular Unity party, UPV, recalled the legacy of Lina Ron, founder of that political awning, on the occasion of this Sunday, March 5, 12 years after her physical departure.
It is imperative to highlight the always combative spirit of Lina Ron, in defense of the Bolivarian revolution, for being a project of social justice that dignified the life of the Venezuelan people,” said Edgar Rodríguez, member of the national leadership of the political party during a conference press.
Similarly, they stressed the validity of the leadership of President Hugo Chávez, whose death will be 10 years old on March 5; “His legacy is intact,” stressed Rodríguez, reflecting on the current position of Venezuela on the global geopolitical table.
“Commander Chávez put us on the agenda of the multipolar world that free and sovereign countries are building,” he said.
In the same way, he assured that Chávez’s work is planted in the bosom of the humblest people, who raised their voices through the revolutionary leader.
Refoundation of the party
Rodríguez also referred to the refoundation process that UPV is leading, in view of the new challenges facing the country. In this sense, they ratified their unrestricted support for President Nicolás Maduro and the economic policies he is advancing, in defense of the Venezuelan people against the economic blockade, reports a press release from the party
The UPV expressed its solidarity with the Venezuelan people and raised its voice in rejection of the extension of the decree that identifies Venezuela as an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to the national security of the United States.
Finally, they made a statement on the purpose of celebrating the month of women. They stressed the value of Venezuelan women, who have social and political leadership in all areas of national life. In addition, they detailed that UPV, in accordance with this reality, has strengthened the State Directorates of the Lina Ron Women’s Command, to accompany popular and feminist struggles throughout the country.
